traffic re‑opening per stageProject Overview
Taylors Road—an aged asphalt carriageway omitted from a prior overlay—showed oxidation, cracking and frequent potholes. Working with Norfolk Island Regional Council, we delivered patch repairs and a full‑width rejuvenation using PHF™ and PRS/TL2000. Local crews were up‑skilled to operate a simple spray‑truck configuration and finishing workflow.
Trial Areas:
6,570 m² planned; 5,942 m² sealed (7.3 m wide).
Timeline:
9–19 Jan 2023, aligned to shipping & weather windows.
Traffic:
Sections reopened two hours post‑application.
Tech Stack
PHF™ (PotHole Fix):
permanent patching in thin or deep lifts; hydrophobic and workable in wet or dry conditions.
Spray‑truck:
simple configuration (airless sprayer, transfer pump, generator, drums) using locally available plant.
PRS/TL2000:
spray‑applied surface rejuvenation that seals against water/chemicals, shields UV, and restores binder flexibility.
Why This Method Is More Sustainable
Lifecycle Advantage:
A cost‑benefit model comparing rejuvenation to asphalt overlay or traditional seals can show superior Net Present Value (NPV) and faster payback (e.g., 2–5 years), driven by lower inputs, rapid delivery, and deferred major works.

Scope & Method
Pre‑work assessments
Identified five patch areas; confirmed strong limestone‑like base; milling depths ranged 10–100 mm.
Patch & pothole repairs
PHF™ used for patches 1–5 and Works Depot corner reprofiling (single‑lift up to ~600 mm); hydrophobic behavior expelled water through capillaries after placement.
Spray configuration
Airless sprayer, gear pump, generator, mixing drums on a council tray‑truck; 4–5 person crew.
Rejuvenation seal
PRS/TL2000 applied at ~0.84 kg/m² average to 5,942 m²; staged to manage traffic; 2‑hour cure before reopening.
Result:
Smooth, sealed carriageway with restored binder flexibility and protection from UV and water ingress.
Operational Benefits
Rapid Reopening:
Immediate opening to traffic after PHF™ compaction; PRS stages reopen after ~2 hours.
Efficient Deployment:
Minimal plant required; high productivity with small trained crews.
Surface Correction:
Thin‑lift capability for surface correction and overlays.
Community & Safety
Hazard Reduction:
One‑step permanent fixes reduce hazard windows.
Worker Safety:
Cleaner chemistry and cold application improve worker conditions.
Community Impact:
Faster delivery reduces noise, delays and detours.
